This is illustrated by the significant enhancement of exciton separation and charge-transfer between the polymers and GFC nanostructures. Theoretical calculations show that the increased separation between polymer excitons and the GFC nanostructure might be attributed to the spatial confinement of the polymers' delocalized electronic states, which can be ascribed to the non-planar GFC nanostructure. A fluorescence quenching test of a 1:1 mixture of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and GFC reveals that the photoconversion of P3HT in a composite system is greatly improved. This improvement can be ascribed to the inhibited recombination of polymer excitons and the GFC nanostructures, which may be associated with the effective quenching of the polymer excitons' emission in the presence of the GFC nanostructure.
